This Biosphere Reserve stretches over the central-western area in the province of Málaga, that is, one of the eight provinces of Andalucia (Spain). Málaga is the southernest city in Western Europe. This area is 93.939 hectares (101115098´06 square kilometres). The town councils of Alozaina, Casarabonela, El Burgo, Guaro, Istán, Monda, Ojén, Tolox and Yunquera as well as Parauta and a large part of Ronda are included within. The coordinates of this Biosphere Reserve are 36º31N-36º51N,04º44W-05º10´W.
It has been highly considered as a very important world geographical place and the famous Serranía de Ronda, Antequera, the Valley of Guadalhorce and the wordlwidely well-known Costa del Sol are a part of it because they are so close one another.It is undoubtedly a crucial geographical spot in the Iberian Peninsula for being so closed to the sea and to the African country and enjoy some remarkable natural, geological, animal and etnographical values.
