The Biosphere Reserve of "Sierra de las Nieves" has a very well organised system of roads. It has to be highly noticed that the access to the urban community can only be done by road. Because it is a region located in the inner part of the province of Málaga. The airport and the port are found in Málaga itself and the nearest railway station is in Ronda. Anyway, the region is provided with an important link of suitably and well communicated roads and in a perfect state of repair. It has some main roads at its southside end bordering with the Coast and A-roads in the east next to the Valley of Guadalhorce as well as B-roads and accesses from the northside of the Reserve. In the inner part of the region a basical main road made up by the A-366 linking Coin and Ronda stands out. This main road goes through the of "Sierra de las Nieves" Reserve from side to side. And it becomes the head access to the six out of nine villages of the urban community. And it provides it with some excellent communications and a huge development power. And regards to the link of intraurban community roads, these go through landscapes dazzlingly beautiful by their nature and mountain system and equally amazing concerning the landscape, are those roads linking the different villages inside the mountain range. These routes are mainly winding provided that the relief is very rugged, full of bends. Nevertheless, the road surface is good because the Board of Public Works from the Junta de Andalucia has carried out over the last five years a programme of improvements on the ways of communication and the access to the region by making new routes and paved areas. Just two sections of interregional road is keeping the road surface and the route in very poor conditions so it can be assured that 90% of the inner road is found in good condition. This classification as a Biosphere Reserve has a special significance because it was promoted and demanded by the local authorities and economical agents and led by the Township Association. Furthermore, it makes it possible to lay the foundations of commitment for the authorities and population to accept and carry out a programme whose main aim was to get sustainable development. MAIN ACCESS TO THE BIOSPHERE RESERVE FROM THE CITY OF MÁLAGA Take the Cártama road (A-357) and then the first turning to Coin taking the A-337 motorway. Get onto the A-355 towards Marbella. Take the turning towards Monda and Guaro, the first municipalities of the Reserve that you will find, if you choose this access. FROM MARBELLA Get onto the A-355 that will take you straight to Ojén and further on leading to the rest of the villages, or take the A-7176 in direction to Istán. FROM RONDA Take the A-366 in direction to El Burgo and Yunquera. ACCESS ROADS TO THE BIOSPHERE RESERVE ´SIERRA DE LAS NIEVES´. Take the short drive down to Campillos at around 19 milles from Antequera taking the A-384 and at around 10 milles if taking the MA-461 road that connects with the A-384 road. Once in Campillos get onto the A-357 road in Málaga city direction and get off in Ardales to make your way to El Burgo or Casarabonela by the MA-466 by a mountain back road in a very poor state.
